Tore my Hamstring two days ago. Please help!

A while back I decided to add 60m sprints into my workouts. I'd do them twice a week, 4 sets each day (working up to 6-8). I take about 5 mins rest in between sets. A couple days ago about 30m into my 3rd set I felt a pop in my right hamstring. It's real tender right now, and sometimes feel it get pinched.

My problem is that my legs have always been my bread and butter in the weight room. I'm real dissapointed this happened. How much time do you expect it to need to heal before I can start training my hamstrings again?

It depends how bad the strain is. Does it hurt closer to the knee or the glutes?

He speaks the truth...I strained mine in high school running the 100m. I would consider mine to be a mild strain and it took me probably at least two months before i would run on it 100%. I would say mild because bruising was no visible. Give it a couple days...see if there is some bruising.

It's about half way up my leg. No bruising, and I hurt it on Monday. I'm not so worried about the running, more the weighlifting. I'm a powerlifter that has a genetic gift for being a fast sprinter, so I take advantage of it.

I would say to give it a week and then rehab for about 2 weeks. No bruising means that there is not a bad tear of the muscle, so you should be okay.
