Today i have the day off from work but i dont want to go anywhere and i have the whole house to myself i do not want to workout all at once so ive been doing spurts i did 30 pushups and 20 lunges on each leg and now ive been relaxing for the past 20 minutes when i get up i will go do 20 situps then when commercials are on i will go do bicep curls and so on and so on is this effective for fitness? If i wait too long between sets will all that work be for nothing? Or should i just do it all at once?

In my opinion, no. It's not gonna hurt, and you may notice a little new strength if training is new to you. But if you are looking for "results" this is not the way. You need to find a real program and jump on it. There are a lot of good ones.
What are your goals and where are you in relation to them?

Wrivest, ignore him. This is how he's preparing for basic training.

Healthychaser- Are you actually working out now and this happend to be an off day in which you wanted to so more? Or are you still being lazy and doing sit-ups in bed like when you first joined?

Please take people's advice they have given you in your past threads.

lol this is sad. op a fatty?
Skinny fat. He just wants to get into shape for boot camp but doesn't want to get out of bed or stop watching TV to do so.

OP-I sincerely hope that attitude changes before you sign that contract. People have given advice previously. Take it.

OP- Sean is right man! I've been in for almost 15 years, and the standards are only getting more stringent. Make a lifestyle change, or work at Wendy's. I'm a fitness rep at my unit and I HATE lazy people.

No ive been working out pretty much everyday since i joined AM lol im pretty sore this is why i didnt want to go to the gym today so i worked out in spurts and took the day off my goal is to get my muscles use to taking a beating get fit and get them use to pain so basicly im trying to build endurance/ strength i dont want big bulky muscles i want to be light but at the same time be as strong as an ox because i will be carrying gear, 50 pound rucksacks a 30 lb vest an 8lb rifle and a helmet with boots im not sure how much weight ill be carrying but i need to be in shape and be capable of running my ass the hell out of any situation or training exercise i might get into for miles so my goal is not to get big bulky muscles thats why i lift the 10 pound weights 100 times because the rifle will be about 8 to 9 pounds lol :p im looking for endurance/strength id like to build muscle but not be so bulky i dont want to be slow and have big ass muscles i need to be light, fast, agile and strong as hell so will working out in spurts do it? pushups 30 in the morning 30 in the afternoon and 30 before bed should i just do 90 all at once or can spurts help me out! i have a year left of highschool to get in the shape i need to be in im either going Marine corp or Army right now im undecided so im working on both of the physical requirements for both branches you guys all have been really motivating and very helpful and yes i workout my forearms and wrist in bed with this squeezer thing while i watch tv :)

no your muscles need a challenge. not this 30 pushup, 10lb dumbell puss-c shet.

try waking up and doing 100 pushups straight. or 300 pushups in the first hour. then youll know endurance

My arms are mainly fat with no hard muscle in them should i keep using 10 pound weights untill im stonger? And then move to 15 or 20 weights? Or should i just start out with higher weights? Im looking for strength and endurance for performance not bulky muscles just for looks :)

OP: right now you have a dream of joining the military, not a plan
You are floundering around, talking about doing random workouts with no rhyme, reason, or hope of success.
Get on a proven program (look into the Army's pre-PT program at the least) and STICK TO IT.

You don't need muscle for boot camp so you can drop your sisters purple 10lb dumbells.

What branch are you joining? Have you been through MEPS?

Honestly, you can go into boot exactly how you are and they'll make sure you can do what you're supposed to do.

**** holding that rifle. You think doing 10lb curls won't make holding that thing pointed to the sky for a half hour not suck?

Go run and do push-ups. Boom. There's your training plan. Off day is an off day.

I will most likely be going into the Marine corp but Army has better living quarters and a bigger budget right now so im undecided, im starting my senior year so until then i think im just going to keep doing pushups and situps and running im not trying for the big ass muscle freak thing mainly i need to build endurance and some strength im sure the strength will come along with the endurance wont it?

with your current attitude, youd be better off with the chair force

either way, theyll break you down in boot camp just to build you back up the right way

Yeah air force is pretty bad ass too im not sure why people keep bashing on them they have combat controllers some of the best pararescue medics and a pretty kick ass special operations command. Known as Afsoc either way they are our brothers in arms they are the ones that fly into hot Zones to rescue Marines and Army men if it wasn't for them alot less soldiers would be coming home to thier families also you have to score pretty high on the asvab for the airforce so they are probably the smartest branch they are the ones most likely to give air support to troops on the ground and save some asses marines and army has accountants and lawyers and **** so i think everone is equal thank you for serving in the airforce you are a bad ass dont let any civilian put you down keep doing you atleast you whent through training n **** unlike civilians i hate lazy people too ;)

you are fukin lazy. you are the pinnacle of pathetic if you think curling some 10lb dumbells during commercials will get you in shape

first off, half the articles here are dum as hell. second off, that one is about cardio, not "weight lifting" if thats what you wanna call your little pathetic workouts. we all said to stop playing big boy with your sisters pink dumbells because it wont do a damn thing. doing 30 pushups twice a day wont do a dam thing. doing situps between commercials wont do a dam thing.

no one was directly blasting the idea of working out in spurts. we were bashing your sorry ass method of working out

but hey keep on doing what youre doing. im sure youll find more evidence to back your ****ty routine somwhere. maybe a womens fitness magazine or somethin. eventually youllget rid of all that fluff right? probly not

No it won't lift some real weights and do some cardio, but my honest opinion as a us army veteran is that you need to stfout my military with ur sissy ass already to many lazy fu(ks in, part of the reason I got out

Holy **** kid pull your head out of your ass! Of you're looking at the Army or USMC you need to start hitting it a lot harder. I went through basic training looking like you look but with the frame of mind that I can't be stopped. Get a shovel and dig a 6 foot deep hole then fill it back in then run your ass off. During all this eat lots off good foods. If your worried about the weight oan m-16 wait until you go on foot patrol with all gear in the mountains of Afghanistan and a 240b. Thin air plus heat plus lots of gear in an area where people want to end your life will make you wished you manned the **** up earlier on. Don't expect your mos to keep you out of **** like that cause I was an 88m (truck driver) and that is how my deployment treated me.

Not being a dick just telling you how it is. If you can't handle it I hear the Navy is hiring haha

Oh Christ!!!! "Will 10lb weights get me toned?"
I think 10 pound dumbells are fine....if you're a 10 year old girl. I just read that question to my 13 year old daughter and she's still laughing.
