Proper Hang Clean and Press form

  1. Proper Hang Clean and Press form

What do you think is proper hang clean and press form? When I hang clean, I go directly into a lunge before pressing overhead. My husband thinks I should go to a full squat before jumping into a lunge to power up to an overhead press. I full squat when I doing warm-up weight, but when the weight gets heavier, it just feels more comfortable to go right to a lunge and skip the full squat altogether. Incidentally, I have trouble with a full squat by itself...anatomically, it just doesn't seem to work for me.

  2. It sounds like your doing a cross between a clean & press and a split jerk.

Unless your competing I don't see anything wrong with it.

Do you change which leg is in front? I could see some major imbalances developing if you don't change legs.

A full squat is not necessary, unless you cannot get the weight high enough (power clean). Proper execution is to complete the clean, then do the split jerk as 2 exercises compounded into one. From the link posted above you can get an idea of what the form and execution looks like.
