Hello, i have an appointment at a VA endo tomorrow. My TT and was the only thing tested so far (at 400 ng/dl). I dont want to be fed the line "400 is normal, you are good". Im 29 years, old and i display nearly all of the low t symptoms. I convinced my Dr to send me to the endo with some research that showed young men can display hypogonadal symptoms at 400 ng/dl.

I want to go in there as prepared as possible with real legitimate research/studies that could help me. Please contribute anything you think may help, and in addition im looking for a real and reputable source that shows 600 ng/dl is average for 29 years. I know everybody reacts differently and 400 COULD be good for somebody, im pretty sure its not for me.
Thanks!

Good luck then if its the VA, ur not going to get far, 400 is well beyond FINE from a doctors perspective especially a va doctor, they dont care, they would rather give u opiods and ibuprofen as well as dump u full of anti depressants than give u test of any sort

No offense but im a vet as well and the va is by no means there to help u in all reality eapecially when they see a 400 level test level

Mine has been between 175 and 576, 576 at its highest, and the normal va doc said

Hell no ur not getting test from us when my levels were at 377....

Go to a normal doctor, get on test that way then try and get those scripts filled at the va

Where did you get that chart? i see its looks like its from a journal called "The Decline of Androgen Levels in Elderly Men and Its Clinical and Therapeutic Implications". i found it on ncbi, and got the link to the full journal but i dont see that image there. maybe i missed it, idk. I cant just give the endo a graph of questionable origin. if i was her id dismiss it invalid evidence. i have to know the source, do you happen to know where i can find that image?

There are many veterans on the Testosterone Replacement Therapy Community group page that gave up on the VA for TRT. Check out the group.

They told me its perfectly normal. BUT they ordered a ton of tests to be "sure". TT, FT, fsh, lh, prolactin, estradiol... so thats cool i guess :)

Well unless they see something causing the 400 levels, ur going to have to get a regular doctor or a urologist to get u test,

I had to go to a trt clinic for the first 5 yrs or so until i found a local doctor and a urologist, who would go thru insurance to get.me my test and anastrozole

I'll be shocked if the VA does anything besides order test (clinical not injections) for you. I'd love to be proven wrong on this. I go the private route for everything and try to avoid the VA at all costs. They have pissed me off beyond belief, I even avoid them when it comes to my combat related disabilities.

This I will agree with, and I'm a Vet that works for them. At my VA PC's talk to you for about 15 mins about your last visit, and then ask you what you want. And, through their new initiative they are trying to stop issuing any medications except for ibuprofen. You'll be lucky to get 4 Viagra a month, and a VED, and thats about it. If I was you I'd use the choice program and go to the outside...
Besides going to work everyday, the only thing I go there for is Glasses (Combat Related), I'm in the blind rehab program, Dental (Combat Related), so all dental is free, and I check in with my PC once a year, and get bloodwork done. Joshinator

That wont happen. Thats why the secretary of the VA was removed and a new one was appointed.
