Well BPS is still at it for the month of December, and this is week 2! We had some outstanding videos in week 1, when we wanted you guys to nominate another member for some BPS goodies, and congrats to Stuhorse and angcd3 for their win!
For week 2 Alpha had the idea for something different. Rather that you guys telling us what great deed you did for someone, we want the opposite. Christmas is about family, friends and not only giving, but receiving ( normally put the other way). So we want to know what incredible stories you have of a time when someone else(does NOT have to be another AM member) did something incredible for you, or your family. Please share. Alpha and I will randomly pick a winner next Saturday morning. Thank you in advance for your participation and we look forward to hearing some great stories.

Just as always, I'm not in this to win it.
My story begins a long time ago in the little town of Bethlehem. I think we all know this story because I am not the first, or the last to tell of how my wrongs and my debts were paid for by someone who had done no wrong. That man gave his life for me and took the punishment that I deserved. There is no greater love than to give your life for another.

When me and my wife just got married we wanted to start a family. So rented a apartment together we started getting to work and with no surprise 2 months later she was prego. We where in top of the world and thought nothing can bring us down. At the same time I was having problems with my mom and we stopped talking. Then sudddenly my wife had a bad late miscarriage and our lives stopped. I was mentally not prepared for this. Everything went down hill - work, relationships with friends and so on. Then after about 6 months we decided to try again successfully. But mentally I was still destroyed and lost my apartment and my job. With no one to turn too I was lost. The baby was coming and I couldn't put a roof over there head. Then I got the call. It was my mom saying to grab all our stuff and that she cleared out a room for us in her house to live in. We stayed there for 8 months and my mom took care of everything and helped me get the career I have now. Without her I would of been lost and we have never been closer. Today I have 2 kids and a great career that I could never if dreamed of with a house to call my own.
So all the people out there make sure you stick with your family no matter what because they will always be there for you.

Excellent point about family. Luckily Mine has always been close and there for each other.
Trying to get my mother to move into a spare room. My dad passed in 2003. She is still very set on staying in her house.

Family will always be there for you when you need them the most. I tried getting my inlaws to move into my basement apartment rent free and they still refuse. They rather travel over a hour each way to babysit the kids 5 days a week. So I made it a man cave and a kids play room lol. Other than that it was never used.

My wife.

She gave up a good job. Her family. Financial stability. To come to Florida and help me take care of my parents.

We lost everything in the process and had to start over but we still have one another.

I see it a lot my friend. 1 spouse loses their other half after so many years, but refuses to give up certain things because they feel like its the only thing they have left. Ive been doing my job, both fire and EMS for 13 years or so, and have seen a little of everything. To this day one of the hardest calls Ive ever ran was simply picking a man up and transporting him to the hospice house for his last few days. It literally hurt to see his wife sit by his side crying, refusing to say goodbye because she knew why he was leaving. If I remember correct, theyd been married for a little over 70 years

I would have to invent a story to have a shot for a freebee.
This challenge made me realize that I never really needed help -nor ever asked for it -or accepted any if offered.

I really would like to tell how my father "gave me a small loan of a million bucks", -but nah, honestly.

The day some youngster gives me his seat in a bus, I'll rip his face off. joking

Note to self, if ever on a bus when HGP wants a seat.. don't offer it for face preservation.

the first thing that comes to my mind is my 2 buddies while deployed. I got injured badly(twisted ankle and had a muscle tear) and I was out for a good 2 weeks in bed without being able to put weight on my left foot. So i was staying back in bed the barracks and not going to our work site. first what my roommate did was empty out a whey tub he had and leave it next to my bed for whenever i had to pee. And when he was off he would go to the cafeteria which was about .6 miles of where we stayed, we were the furthest one from the cafeteria and he would bring me breakfast, lunch and dinner and whenever he missed out on dinner he would go to the lunch truck that was super expensive and get me some chicken fingers and fries. he would help me to the bathroom late a night to go shower and do what i couldnt in the whey tub lol.

The other buddy lived 3 tents down from us, I never really liked him cuz he was full of himself but when he heard what had happened to me he was doing the same. Bringing me food from the cafeteria plus cereal that he would sneak out with milk for me to eat late at night if i was hungry. That was a huge surprise to me because he knew i didnt like him but yet he still did those things for me.

Once I was able to put my boot on I was going to our work site but they weren't letting me use my body armor because of all the weight so they had me on the radio and watching the CCTV cameras. One day the guy i didnt like got real sick they thought he was bull****ting couldnt get out of bed and he was the official driver and they made him to go anyways. When i saw him, everyone could see he was ****ed up. I got up and said "I didnt sign up to be on the radio and watching the cameras, I want to be down there with the guys if they need me and Iaspari is ****ed up so make me official driver, i dont need my left leg to drive the humvee". so for the next 5 months i was the driver while we were deployed. We became good friends and we would hit up the gym everyday that we were off or working together on the same days.

I did blow up to 205 pounds which was the highest I ever been because they would bring me apple pie or strawberry cheese cake at least 2x a day and well i should had known better but didnt want to waste food lol. Anyways if it wasn't for those 2 guys I wouldnt have eaten or gone anywhere for a while. I am very thankful that they were there for me when i needed the help.

I would call it "disaster resilient", LOL.
Was on my own when I turned 16 yo. Fought through all up- and downs by myself. Helped a lot of people on the way -only to learn that most of them weren't worth the effort.
Made me sort of a loner.

My wife (I'm not married -but 25 years together with her) is the only person I wish to thank, she stood by me in the hardest of times, always trusted me and still is the unshakeable foundation of my family.

That is Awesome! I cant even count how many time I have heard a similar testomony.
My brother and sister in law went through the same thing. after 5 years and no telling how much money they spent they had pretty much given up. They were going to adopt and the girl having the baby changed her mind the day she had the baby. they were devastated. the next day she was pregnant! They now have 2 healthy children. 8 year old boy and 3 year old girl.
GOD is GOOD!! that is all I can say.

My family is allowing me to live at home with them while I go to graduate school and not have to pay rent (although of course I help out with bills, food, etc.), whereas most of my classmates are having to take out extra loans to pay for an apartment or a house to live in (maybe that's the "cool" way to do it, but I need to save money! LOL).

Well of course my wife, she has made me see what I am really able to do with my life. But I think I will have to say my family. That have helped mold me into the man I am today. Not just my parents but uncles, and aunts. A lot of my family are brutally honest and hold no punches back. I am the same way now and I have much more respect for others that way. Sugar coating does not help anyone. They have witnessed me make dumb mistakes but have always been there when I ask for help. I am thankful to have to married into another huge family with those same values as well.
