Post-Chaos? Not as much. Some fleeting moments of brilliance, but anything pre-Roots is awesome. Love their new drummer though. Kid's a monster.

Death metal and all the aformentioned genres are awesome.

But no mention of doom/stoner metal? **** is hectic.

    To name a few..?
    Electric Wizard? (Heavy as ****)
    Sleep
    High on Fire
    Acid King

Turning this up house-shakingly loud is pre sick-
Electric Wizard-Wizard In Black - YouTube

    Edit:
Also Acid Bath and Crowbar, kinda slightly different genre.

  7. OK, what is the album that started it all for you? The very first time you tried listening to something different and became hooked for life.

    Metallica. And justice for all
    Slayer. Seasons in the abyss.

    I was hooked.

  8. /In on this thread.

Although melodic death has a special place in my heart due to guitar work.

^Metallica as well but god damn I can't stand them now.

They died about 45 minutes after wrapping studio time on Black.

Just saw today that Morbid Angel, Dying Fetus, and Origin are touring this summer. Going to see Mastodon, Gojira, and Kvelertak this Monday.

  28. Check out Cattle Decapitation for some awesome deathgrind. Necrophagia is also worth mentioning.

  29. Get a subscription to Decibel. So many great bands and albums I've been turned on to since I started reading that I otherwise wouldn't have known about.
