I recently did a competition and within a few days after my show I put on 15lbs is this common or should I watch what I eat for a while to try and lose some of that weight?

You're fine.

It's mostly due to a higher glycogen uptake and of course, water.

Nothing to worry about.

Just get back on your normal diet and slowly start increasing your calories from your foods by about 100-200 cals/week until you feel you are at a stable place.

try to let your body normalize for 1-3 weeks and dont go CRAZY on the food. You will pout on a decent amount of weight and return to a normal BF%, THEN go into a bulking cycle. too much at once wil just be fat
