The Manhattan Project

In 1942 FDR commissioned a top secret project to construct an Atom Bomb. He called the commission "The Manhattan Project". The resulting innovation tilted the balance of world power and set the stage for the age of modern warfare.

I am attempting no such great feat but i like that name and I'm sure it's not rights protected so I'm stealing it.

The Goal
To transform myself, a one time athlete (football, basketball player) turned couch potato into a beast... check that....

To transform myself, a one time athlete (football, basketball player) turned couch potato into an AWESOME beast! (3lbs at a time) I need to go from 150lbs to 170lbs get leaner than i am right now.

That brings me to the problem...

The Problem
I am would you would call an Ectomorph.

"...a human physical type (somatotype) tending toward linearity, as determined by the physique classification system developed by the American psychologist W.H. Sheldon. Although classification by the Sheldon system is not absolute, a person is classed as an ectomorph if ectomorphy predominates over endomorphy and mesomorphy in his body build. The extreme ectomorph has a thin face with high forehead and receding chin; narrow chest and abdomen; a narrow heart; rather long, thin arms and legs; little body fat and little muscle; but a large skin surface and a large nervous system. If well fed he does not gain weight easily, and if he becomes fat he is still considered an ectomorph, only overweight. Compare endomorph; mesomorph." - Britannica

As such after 4 years of HS sports followed by 7 years of non competitive sports and activity I started sitting in office chairs and the sofa. What little muscle I had... is now gone. Granted I have been in this semi-vegetated state for about 3 years and I'm thankful things aren't much worse.

So the problem is low overall muscle mass and thin blanket of fat over my mid section... (not awesome)

As I write this I have actually been back in the gym for since 10/05/09 and I intend to track my progress on this blog. I did take some pictures and measurements on 10/12 (the end of week 1)

So I suppose it's time for new pics and measurements. I'll update more when I get the chance.

The Manhattan Project has begun...
