For the last 2 years I have continued a more than noticeable decline in energy, libido, motivation, mental clarity and the ability to lose fat.

2 years ago my Total Test was 637 now its 326. Doctor of 15 years says it's within the normal range and doesn't need to be treated.

Component Your Value Standard Range
Total Testosterone-NPS 326.0 ng/dL 249.0 - 836 ng/dL

What do I do? Can I take my test results to another physician willing to help? Can I submit the results to an online pharmacy and purchase from the?

Find another doctor. Search TRT clinics near you and show them those results until you find one that will treat you. My male health clinic treats men in the low 400s if they want it

He is correct to not place you on TRT, but he is not doing his diligence. You should have a full hormone panel completed as well as a review of lifestyle ie, sleep patterns, stress, life events, etc.. Any of these factors can lower testosterone levels dramatically and should be analyzed to determine if there is correction needed. If that is all well and good, then you should have a referral to a specialist such as an endo or internalist to test hormones and other related factors such as gut health.

We are so far removed from the old days 5 years ago :) when you went in for a testosterone check and are given a script. There are so many factors in play that you should be checking on before getting on a lifetime of exogenous test that may not even address the issues at hand.

Add Thyroid to the list of concerns with your dr. I had similar levels of Total Test with high E2 and the Dr told me that weight loss would help lower my E2. My TSH was at 3 point something with low in range T3. So my natural metabolism was 'off'.

Plus I am pretty sure T3 interacts with leydig cells which have a role in androgen production. Like all hormones, everything effects everything else. If you have the means get the blood work you want from an independent lab and if something comes back hinky show your Dr. if they scoff at it then get a new one.

The worst kind of Dr is one who treats lab numbers and ignores symptoms. Just because you are in the lab range does not mean that everything is working the way it should.

Anyway, your comment about not being able to lose fat made me think of thyroid. Sorry about the rant, but I had a similar experience and know how frustrating it can be.

TSH, T3, T4, and free T4 should always be on the list when running labs.

rT3 is good to know as well. Most GPs won't check for it unless you insist. Mine would not do anything but a TSH.

From what I understand if you go to a GP the protocol is test TSH only -> if out of range test free T3/free T4.

It is an insurance thing. I went to school with the nurse at my Drs office and asked her to add free T3/T4 to my lab order. Insurance made me pay a different rate for those tests due to them being "unnecessary" even though my free T 3 ended up being out of range.

No, that is just lack of diligence by the doctor. Insurance will cover the additional thyroid tests as it is pretty well known TSH doesn't paint the full picture and you must have the additional tests.

Not my United Choice Plus PPO. I got a discount amount on the test but not the full discount as they determined it was not necessary.

Most Drs treat lab numbers and not symptoms as in the case of this thread.

Right, but that doesn't mean the test isn't covered and isn't necessary. They just work off of codes.

Do an online TRT clinic. They prescribed and sold me testosterone with a TT of 646! They'll surely treat you. It's expensive doing it this way, but it's legal and safe

I fell for the TRT clinic about 2 years ago. The price for 10 ml testosterone cypionate, 30 ml B12 and syringes was $700. The bloodwork alone was $250.

Anything I have read about someone trying to get TRT for low T from their doctor is always results in a "won't treat" answer. You could ask for a referral to an endo or go to a TRT clinic. The TRT clinic will always treat you because that is their business, but it will be costly. Anyone outside of an endo is limited in understanding. Too bad its the one thing big pharma doesn't push on doctors to issue out

There is a company out of florida called Titan Medical Center! They will measure your vitals and let you know if you qualify. Since you do they will place you on a HRT protocol. Let them know I sent you. Click on the link. All done over the phone. They will send a test kit, measure your results, call you and set you up for a protocol.

You need to be treated but I would start with Clomid or hCG depending on the mechanism of deficiency. After years of TRT is gets to be annoying chasing E2 constantly.

As shanethomas said, find another doc (especially if your current one is a PCP, see if you can talk to a urologist or endocrinologist). Also, I too have found a few TRT clinics in my area who will treat men with T in the low 400s. My test came back at 369 recently and it sucks. I'm making an appt. with a urologist who treated me previously when I had levels at 390 (treated with clomid).

Currently I'm taking KSM-66 and Zinc picolinate 30mg/day. KSM has been shown to boost test by about 100 pts from whatever baseline, so it could be worth a try as something to help in the meantime.

Similar situation occurred to me in 2012 when I was about your age. My Dr. since 1990 said you are fine. Found another Dr. In my case the issue was not low-t but other issues.-Vit. D and Preg levels. Back to normal in no time. .

Isn't it amazing? Try breaking up the pregnenolone dosage 2x daily in smaller doses. I like 10mg in the morning and 10mg around 2pm. After a week you'll feel like one of the smartest people around.

I use the Life Extension 100mg capsules in the a.m. with my vitamin cocktail.

I believe the sublingual is preferred by folks here. I guess that is the lower dose you refer to above.

I was very low on Vitamin D as well.

Supplementing with both perked me up beyond belief. I though I had some terminal illness and was a goner.

Appreciate every day since.
