So I just got off the phone with Doc's office free test is 9.3 range is 9.3-30
Total test is 309 range is 240-950.

Says since I am "normal" there is no reason to pursue trt. Am I wrong I am at the very bottom of normal-no sex drive, lack of energy, insomnia, weak erections. Looking for suggestions I meet with doc in 2 weeks to talk about options. He suggests urology-my problem is more I have zero sex drive not Viagra.

I am 43

I had exact same #'s at age 32 and started TRT then. Low testosterone has a whole slew of health issues that go along with it, a big laundry list. I'd print that off and show him, will help your case out. Like you said, you're not looking for band aid treatments like viagra, so he'll have to understand this.

BTW, it is completely legal for ANYONE over age 30 to opt for TRT regardless of labs, through an HRT clinic.

I had to go to a few different doctors before I started TRT. The main thing you want to figure out is your primary cause of low test, before you start treatment.

You next step is to see a specialist and I would recommend an endo and not a urologist. You can't tell much at all from a single test and with only seeing total and free test, even less.

Meet with the Doc again my plan is to address a variety of issues that are associated with low test testosterone and pointing out that while in the "normal" range they are far from optimal. In essence my levels are that of an 80 year old bed ridden in the nursing home and this is unacceptable.

Update: I went to my GP presented my symptoms and that the way I am feeling is unacceptable. I also presented him with table of test averages showing my test was lower than that of a 85-100 year old man. All information presented was research and medical journals not men's health type articles. Result- He made a referral to see an endo for low-t.

Boom. Good job being diligent and rationale with the doc to get what you need.

I got that same experience from a urologist. Had me stop androgel for nearly three months, then come back for blood work to show I was low T. IF it's a good Endo they won't take you off the T. The Dr will do a complete work up on the day of your injection, but before you inject to get your trough level for T.

My advice is find a good hormone doctor in your area...I would not go see a GP for TRT. Do a google search you will find one..even if you have to travel a bit. A good hormone doctor is well worth it. There is a hell of a lot more to TRT then rubbing some gel on you or taking a shot. Also visit Dr. Crisler's forum and read and learn... hell if you have to travel to him..
